FRIDAY PHOTO FUNNIES!

Reliving past glory of a misspent youth.

Again, foto funnies are posted as a historical analysis of the changing face of humor in our country of the last 25 or so years. They do not present the viewpoint or opinion of the blog owner. Often they are wildly politically incorrect and offensive - if you are offended by the material in a foto funny, you either need to develop a sense of humor or surf elsewhere.

Okay.

So, early on in the life of the Blog I was putting up old foto funny pages from National Lampoon.

Now, if you don’t know how important National Lampoon was I suggest you go and watch this:

What’s interesting is watching that short preview of something anyone who has an interest in funny should see is that some of the names being thrown around and some of the people being interviewed tell you just how vitally important The National Lampoon was on so many fronts.

The foto funny above?

That guy on the Left there? That’s Doug Kenny! Besides founding The National Lampoon with Peter Beard, Kenny also co wrote Animal House and one more movie you may be familiar with, Caddyshack.

Without the Lampoon?

No Heavy Metal magazine (Heavy Metal was printed by the people at the Lampoon), no Saturday Night Live (the bulk of the original cast of Saturday Night Live came from The National Lampoon Radio Hour), none of those teen comedies of the eighties (John Hughes got his start at National Lampoon).

You just have to think of this as a wellspring for culture that still reverberates in our society to this day.

(and downstairs in two big plastic shopping bags I have about four years worth of old National Lampoon magazines)
